Connect YMCA 2022 Connect Kids Day Celebration & Summer Camp Signup April 23rd
Connect Kids Day is a FREE FAMILY EVENT and is open to the community. ECOTONE World was on-site with our booth providing information about our summer camp opportunity “Community Kids Cook w/ Chef Tarsha” coming to KIPP Academy in July 2022!
The day was open to parents and their students to preview the content of a variety of camp options (30 outstanding choices in all) and to engage with camp presenters, ask questions and get excited about their summer experiences to come. We are happy to have been invited to bring our week-long cooking camp back to KIPP Academy for a second time and look forward to another great opportunity to convey healthy youth food educational outreach.
“Community Kids Cook w/ Chef Tarsha” is a cooking camp provides hands-on culinary training, interactive lectures, printed resources, engaging field trips and direct contact with industry professionals. Special thanks for our long standing sponsor Botanical Interest their seed donations help us make the connection between growing our own food and have the life-skills needed to prepare fresh health meals!
For more information about CKC please go to our “Educate” page here on the ECOTONE World site. To email Chef Tarsha: tarsha@ecotoneworld.com
Twenty-four KIPP Academy students from Southwest Houston joined our Cooking Camp for a “5 Day Cooking Intensive.” Kicking off in July 2019, we took them from safety and sanitation practice; to trekking through their neighbor church’s community garden; to a private restaurant experience and finally preparing a spaghetti luncheon for their family members. So much to learn in five days and such a flavorful experience along the way! Special thanks to Connect Communities 501c3, Chef D. C. Williams -D.C.’s Lil Bit of Cajun, Shannon Teasley-McNichols – SRT Management Services, CCSC Garden, Chef Dominick Lee – Poitin Bar and Kitchen, and Martin Preferred Foods.
